About
Your Practitioner
Kia ora, I’m Becky Moon, the woman at the heart of Woven Wellness.
Born into a family of Osteopaths, I was surrounded from a young age by a deep respect and sense of the wisdom of the body. I studied a four year Bachelor of Acupuncture at the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and TCM.
While my training is within the Traditional Chinese Medicine framework, I am continuing to deepen my practice in its more classical and alchemical roots through the teachings of Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation lineage holder and internationally recognised master scholar, teacher and practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine. Documented for the first time by his student Ann Cecil Sterman, this lineage explores the full complement of channels (a total of 68, compared to the 12 channels of TCM), which had been largely lost in ancient texts and survived only through oral tradition. Through my mentorship with Ann Cecil Sterman and ongoing study of Advanced Acupuncture, my understanding and reverence for the medicine is deepening - along with a deep gratitude to be able to share this incredibly profound medical system with others.
To me, the practice of Acupuncture mirrors the natural world: every part of the mind and body is interconnected, in a dynamic and ever-changing relationship. Health, too, is relational — shaped by our upbringing, our communities, our culture. True wellness is highly individual; there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I see my work as a creative collaboration — between the skills I bring and the person I’m supporting, including the unique threads of their life story, beliefs, habits, environment, and health history.
My Approach
The practice is not only about diagnosing and treating dis-ease, but also supporting the body in its infinitely intelligent function and ability to preserve life. The body does not make mistakes, and is ultimately doing the best it can with the inputs we give it: food, thoughts and beliefs, habits, environments, relationships and experiences.
Depending on a person's capacity, (emotional, physical and practical) when the body encounters a pathogen (whether a virus or a traumatic experience), the body decides whether it can express, detoxify, clear, and resolve the pathology, or if it needs to lock it away in latency - storing it in the body so it is out of the general circulation and not continuing to create inflammation.
If and when we are better resourced, the body will resolve, process or clear the pathology. Trusting this incredibly intelligent system, we do not push the body to clear something it has strategically locked away out of circulation; if it had the capacity to clear it, it would. This applies to both pathogens such as viruses or heavy metals, or traumatic events and emotional trauma. Instead, we focus on building the body’s resources, restoring health, and processing whatever is emerging in the present moment.
Perhaps we know what it is we need to do to feel better or move forward, but we feel stuck. Often, it is our core unconscious beliefs that form how we see the world and how we interact with it. The power of Acupuncture extends far beyond resolving physical pain or organ function. We can use the channels to resolve these limiting beliefs or resistances to change, so that we increase our capacity to meet life's inevitable challenges with grace. When we are more resourced to work through our own resistances, we have more capacity to change, grow, heal and evolve. It is a blessing to share this practice and bear witness to others’ expansion and increasing freedom.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into various points on the body to restore the flow of Qi and Blood, alleviate pain and blockages, and stimulate the bodies innate healing response.
Acupuncture
Moxibustion is the burning of the dried herb - Mugwort. Mugwort (Artemisia) has been used for centuries to warm the body, increase circulation and support recovery.
Moxibustion
Cupping
Fire Cupping creates space in the tissues to relax muscle tension, improve the circulation of blood and lymph, alleviate pain and support detoxification.
Massage & Acupressure
We don’t always need to use needles to have positive effects. Massage helps the body and channels open and unwind, becoming more receptive to treatment. Acupressure is an effective way to target specific acupoints without needles, and can be practised at home. It can also be used in treatment for children, elderly, or anyone with needle phobia.
Mindfulness
Historically, the channels or meridians existed long before the acupuncture points along their trajectories, as well as the use of needles. At its core, acupuncture is energy medicine. I find that an embodied understanding and feel for the channels assists in the potency of treatment, making meditation on the channels and Qigong an integral part of my practice.
